Snow may still cover much of the mountains in the northern hemisphere, but the 2023 World Cup Downhill season is coming up fast. Scott Factory DH rider and Race Face athlete Dylan Levesque sets up the season with a high-speed shred through Bikepark Schladming in perfect fall conditions.
This is Dylan Levesque was shot in beautiful Kodak Motion Picture Film complemented by Phantom 4k ultra-slow-motion showing Dylan’s gravity-specific Atlas Wheels eviscerating the berms.
I was impressed by the way the Tillmann Brothers are working with this "old school" camera. You can't imagine how difficult it is to control everything in order to get the best on the first take. It takes time to set up and most scenes were filmed in just one take! The final look turned out so great.
What are you doing to get ready for the 2023 World Cup season?
I am working hard on my physical preparation; a lot of road cycling and gym sessions and training with the team is about three days twice a month. It's pretty intense! We try a lot of different things to have our best season and be the fastest during races.
The Atlas wheels are the flagship DH wheels for Race Face. How do they perform under the duress of World Cup training and racing?
I’ve ridden the Atlas wheels since day one at Scott DH Factory. I’m honestly impressed by the quality and reliability. I have all I need with Atlas wheels; a solid hubs, super good rolling axles and strong rims. But take the word from my mechanic. He says they are no-brainer for maintenance.
Countdown, Fast Life, Split Second all have their scenes in this video. What do these mean to you as a rider?
At a race, every race run starts with a countdown. You have to be perfectly balanced between focus and excitement, it’s a kind of drug for me! Fast life is all about our lives as world cup racers. We ride our bike to go faster and faster, we improve every detail to be the best. Every time you pause and take a second to look at these things, you realize just how sick and beautiful this sport is!
