"This project was a huge learning experience and eye opening on how much can go into a product without the end customer ever knowing." - Travis Bilton, Product Designer/Developer, Race Face
Room to Roam
Enduro riding has changed over the years, getting more rowdy and gnarly, more pedaling, and, of course, faster. Some might say "downhill light" in terms of speed, race terrain, and tracks.
After years of success with the Indy pad, our soft goods team thought it was time to update our enduro protection to match the new style of riding. Something that was lightweight and comfortable like the Indy pad but with added protection and versatility.
The Right Pad for the Job
In order to make sure the Roam knee was the right pad for the job, we did extensive testing, first within the company with staff riders and testers, then with our extended group of athletes and ambassadors. The North Shore made for the perfect testing grounds with its seemingly endless amounts of trails full of roots and rocks, slabs, and technical twists and turns to make sure we were on the right track.
